City Walking Tour
The tour will begin at the Column of San Marco. This square is known to be the world’s most beautiful drawing room, you’ll see it for yourself once you visit it.
In this square, you’ll be introduced to St Mark’s Basilica, the cathedral church of Venice, the symbol of the city with its Byzantine-style cupolas with its golden mosaics and priceless bronze and golden horses coming from Costantinopoli.
Next, you’ll continue to see the Doge’s Palace which is a few metres away from the Cathedral, yet another monument suited in St. Mark’s Square. Here you'll hear the story of this beautiful palace and the fire that took place, the structure and the architectural style of this magnificent building. Then walk to see the tallest building in Venice, The Campanile (Bell Tower), which once was a lighthouse for sailors.
You’ll continue to tour Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo, where the largest church of Venice is located, the Pantheon of Venice. The guide will take you around the church’s exterior, which is designed with marvellous sculptures.
Just nearby the church you can admire the most prominent and most beautifully decorated building in Venice known as the Scuola Grande di San Marco (“Great School of Charity”). You'll learn the importance and significance of this building to the Venetians.
As you stroll the streets and pretty alleys crossing across small bridges of Venice, you’ll uncover hidden gems along the way, like Marco Polo’s house a great traveller and writer.
You’ll not stop there; the guide will walk you to the hustling and bustling of Venice's most famous shopping street known as Mercerie. This historic heart of commercial life in the city is sited between the Rialto Bridge and San Marco Square.
Passing the Rialto bridge, walk along the grand canal to the most famous and renowned Italian theatre, the Teatro La Fenice. Here you will discover the story of a mythical phoenix that's been told by the locals in Venice. Later visit the gothic spiral staircase, Scala Contarini del Bovolo externally along your way back to St. Mark’s Square.
Gondola Ride Tour
Start your Gondola Ride by boarding from the gondola station Bacino Orseolo, located behind Piazza San Marco. Be lulled by the gentle sway of the lagoon as you move deeper into the minor canals, and coast past lesser-known areas to see quaint corners and majestic palaces from a new perspective. The tour continues until it reaches the Grand Canal by travelling along the smaller, more picturesque canals, such as Rio dei Barcaroli, where Mozart's home is, and Rio dell'Ovo.
From there, on the right you will see the magnificence of the Rialto Bridge, which is the oldest bridge across the canal and is regarded as a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture and engineering. On the left, you will see important buildings such as Ca' Farsetti, the seat of the city hall, and Palazzo Grimani, the largest building with a view of the Grand Canal and the seat of the Court of Appeal.
The tour continues to Rio San Luca where you can see Ponte del Teatro, the bridge between the façade of the church of San Luca and that of the Rossini cinema, and Ponte di San Paternian, the bridge connects Campo Manin to Calle San Paternian. There you will see Palazzo Manin, the residence of the last Doge of Venice Ludovico Manin, which is now the Bank of Italy's headquarters.
