Itinerary

Day 1 - COLOMBO
Arrival to Bandaranayka, transfer to Colombo, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Although it's unlikely it will reclaim its 19th-century moniker 'the garden city of the East', Colombo has nevertheless emerged as a must-see stop in Sri Lanka. No longer just the sprawling city you have to endure on your way to the beaches, it has become a worthy destination in its own right and makes an excellent start – or finish – to your Sri Lankan adventures. Colombo’s cosmopolitan side supports ever-more stylish eateries, galleries and shops. Surprises abound: with a little exploration you'll find great local food, characterful shops and tiny, convivial cafes. Meanwhile, a building boom like no other is transforming the city's skyline.
Day 2 - DAMBULLA
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Dambulla.
En-route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Visit Dambulla Cave Temple.
Dinner at hotel and overnight stay.
Dambulla cave is vast isolated rock mass 500 feet high and a mile around the base. Here is found the famous Rock Temple dating to the First Century B.C. The caves of Dambulla sheltered King Walagamba during his 14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. When he regained the throne, he built the most magnificent of Rock Temples to be found in the Island.
Day 3 - POLONNARUWA
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Polonnaruwa and visit Polonnaruwa Ancient City.
Return to Dambulla.
Dinner at hotel and overnight.
Polonnaruwa, the 2nd most ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka is an interesting mix of Buddhist and Hindu structures that are a testament to the different kings who reigned over this ancient kingdom. Polonnaruwa rose to prominence between the 11th and 13th centuries and thrived during the reign of the famous monarch, King Parakramabahu I, who did much to create a resplendent city. His greatest achievement was the construction of the sea of Parakrama, a huge water reservoir spanning an area of 6280 acres.
Day 4 - KANDY
Breakfast at hotel, ransfer to Kandy and en-route visit Spice Gardens.
Visit to Perodeniya Botanical Garden, Temple of Tooth Relic, Gem Museum.
Entertainment with Kandy Cultural Show.
Dinner at hotel with overnight.
Kandy is Sri Lanka's second largest city located in the mountainous center of the island. It is considered by some as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, and was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988. A cooler climate and smaller size make it much more pleasant and accessible than Colombo. The city has a compact downtown area surrounded by a beautiful tropical rain forest hill country on all sides with exotic animals such as monkeys running around in the wild.
Day 5 - NUWARA ELIYA
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Nuwara Eliya.
Visit to Ramboda Falls and Tea Plantation.
Visit Nuwara Eliya City.
Visit Haggala Botanical Garden.
Dinner in hotel and overnight.
Often referred to as ‘Little England’, this genteel highland community does have a rose-tinted, vaguely British-country-village feel to it, with its colonial-era bungalows, Tudor-style hotels, well-tended hedgerows and pretty gardens. Indeed, Nuwara Eliya was once was the favoured cool-climate escape for the hard-working and hard-drinking English and Scottish pioneers of Sri Lanka’s tea industry.
Day 6 - YALA
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Yala and en-route visit to Ella view point.
Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Yala is Sri Lanka's most famous national park. Forming a total area of 1268 sq km of scrub, light forest, grassy plains and brackish lagoons, it's very rich in wildlife and you're virtually certain to encounter elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes and monkeys. Plan your trip carefully, however – such is Yala's appeal that the main tracks and viewing spots can be crowded.
Day 7 - GALLE
Breakfast at hotel, tour Yala Safari (morning or evening).
Transfer to Galle and visit Galle Fort and Lighthouse.
Tour Galle City, dinner and overnight in hotel.
The South Coast’s major city is Galle, whose oldest landmark is the massive Portuguese and Dutch Fort which is a “World Heritage Site” in which the central city is contained. But the city may be much older. Some scholars believe it to be the “Tarshish” of the Old Testament, to which King Solomon sent his merchant vessels, and to which Jonah fled from the Lord. Today, the 90-acre Galle Fort shows no evidence of the Portuguese founders.
Day 8 to Day 11 - GALLE
Breakfast at hotel, beach stray (enjoy the sea bathing and sea view).
Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 12 - DEPARTURE
Breakfast at hotel and proceed to the airport for depature.
